"MARVIN" TO FOLLOW "HUBERT" INTO (PRE-)HISTORY
AUSTIN, TX, Sept. 2008 - Blooming Tree Press, one of America's most respected independent publishing houses, has acquired "Marvin Invents Music," Claire & Monte Montgomery's long-awaited follow-up to "Hubert Invents the Wheel." Miriam Hees, founder and president of Blooming Tree, expects the book to hit the shelves in Fall, 2009.
Set in the frigid Scandinavian fishing village of Grimstad in the year 3200 B.C., "Marvin" follows the exploits of a seventeen-year-old compulsive noisemaker as he originates not only rhythm, melody, and harmony, but shredding guitar solos, screaming fans, and crowd-diving. On the bumpy road to Bronze-Age stardom, Marvin must grapple with a gang of angry orphans, a pompous holy man, a thieving manager, not one but two jealous girlfriends, and the deadliest foe of all: his own ego.
Blooming Tree Press is located in the beautiful city of Austin, Texas, and is dedicated to creating quality books for young readers and adults.
TEXAS TRAVELS
We recently returned from a six-month swing across the Lone Star State -- from El Paso to Austin, from Dallas to Houston -- telling thousands of students, teachers and librarians about Hubert and his madcap Mesopotamian misadventures.
In Irving, we were even the subjects of a little news story. You can watch it here.

SAN ANTONIO SYMPHONY
On November 6th, 7th and 8th, 2007, the renowned San Antonio Symphony presented a series of six young people's concerts based on "Hubert Invents the Wheel." Monte's original composition, the 'Hubert Overture' (Opus 1/2) kicked off all the shows, and the authors provided enthusiastic narration from the stage. Special thanks to General Manager David Filner, who chose the book and the music, and to ace conductor Ken-David Masur, who brought everything to life with his bouncing baton.
